Pakistan: reporter freed
09 Jul 2008Wiqar Kiyani, the kidnapped Guardian stringer who was kidnapped on Sunday night was freed on 7 July. Kiyani was thrown from a vehicle near Mianwali after alleged torture with a warning not to pursue a story about a British national or tell anyone about his ordeal. He had disappeared shortly after he returned to Islamabad from a reporting assignment in Karachi.
