Coverage of Sri Lankan reporter’s murder censored
09 Jan 2009Reports on the murder of editor Lasantha Wickramatunga have been censored by the Sri Lankan authorities to remove criticism of the government.
Reports on the BBC and other newscasters, featuring comments from Wickramatunga’s colleagues as well as government and opposition politicians were all edited by the Sri Lankan Broadcasting Company to remove any segment that placed the blame for the death at the feet of the government and their inability to protect the media.
