Indonesia: reporters arrested

Four Dutch journalists were detained whilst covering a demonstration in the eastern province of Papua.

The demonstration was held on 24 March to welcome back Nicholas Jouwe, one of the founders of the free Papua Movement (OPM) that has lived in exile in the Netherlands for 40 years. The police said that the journalists had violated ‘immigration relations’ and had not been given permission to film. The journalists were released after 12 hours.

    West Papua is a Pacific COLONY of Indonesia, and to coward the media from reporting that fact Indonesia has restricted access since 1963, see http://wpik.org/Src/NYT/19630906.pdf
