These threats are made by the Eeelam Peoples Democratic Party under a pseudonym. The EPDP runs a gang of paramilitaries who terrorise the tamil population of the north alongside the armed forces. Its leader Devananda is the only minister in any country permitted to run his own private army of goons and assassins to subjugate the tamils. Now in the coming nothern provincial elections,he is forced to contest under the ruling United Peoples Freedom Alliance headed by the president. He desires to become chief minister and rule the north, assisted by the army which is now recruiting 50,000 additional troops.
