UAE: journalist fired for revealing airline safety concerns
30 Oct 2009American journalist Courtney C Radsch was fired from her post at Al Arabiya news on 5 October for uncovering breaches of safety at Emirates Airlines. Radsch had written an article on pilot fatigue in the airline. Within 24 hours of the article’s release, Radsch was made redundant. As visas are granted to foreigners on condition of employment, Radsch was given 30 days to leave the country before her visa expired. She left the country on 29 October. Journalists are discouraged from reporting on Emirates Airlines, as its chief executive, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, is also the head of the aviation authority and a member of the country’s ruling family.

From Al Arabiya
Courtney is a liar! Please I beg you call Al Arabiya and speak to the people that used to work with her she was NOT fired because of this story. She was fired because she was unprofessional, rude, arrogant and abusive. How come Courtney failed to mention that she used to stand in the news room and shout at her manager? How come she does not mention that she hanged up on her manager’s face when he called her to tell her to remove the article? She is a LIAR and she is playing the censorship card. COURTNEY WAS FIRED BECAUSE SHE WAS A TERRIBLE EMPLOYEE! No question about it.
