How about we have a week where no one buys, sells, hires or otherwise puts any money into the creative industries to see what impact that will have on the revenues of the large "rights holders"?

If loss of earnings is their main concern, such an action will hit where it hurts most, their bank balance. They can think about what a month of such action will mean to them (or longer).

We may of course be allowed to vote online. You only need a modem for that.

Well written as usual Bill. Just a shame that these policy makers just don't understand the internet at all. They seem hell bent on propping up an obsolete business model, and as you say, 'breaking our internet'.
Maybe because they have spent so much on the banking fiasco and can't afford to modernise the obsolete copper infrastructure our broadband comes through they are gonna block access and then we don't need it? No point in spending money on infrastructure if all we are going to be allowed to do is email, tweet and browse eGov sites.
Turn off the lights as you leave. Goodbye digital Britain. Goodbye innovation. Goodbye digital economy.
