This is a great article. One question that I have had regarding this is whether the information that they receive (if they receive anything) will even be helpful in prosecuting cases. I am a criminal law attorney, and while I realize that the system in the US is different, many of the procedures are derived from English common law. I know the UK does not allow hearsay (with exceptions), I am not sure about confrontation rights, speedy trial rights, or statutes of limitations. Regardless, it seems that it will be extremely difficult to prosecute any cases that they receive information regarding. This makes the concept of this being purely a political smear even more feasible.
