A great article – way to go, Mike. We researched a lot of different types of censorship and manipulation/control of public opinion when writing the Dictator’s Handbook: a practical manual for the aspiring tyrant. A few other tactics:

* post your cops in internet cafes to see ‘who’ is writing ‘what.’
* pay a team to flood forums with supporters posting your views/opinions
* hack opponents’ emails and find out who they are communicating with; then hassle those people too.

All of chapter 9 deals with it, in fact. If tracking the actions of dictators interests you, you are welcome on our community forum (anonymous).
