Bahraini activist serving life sentence writes letter from prison

Prominent Bahraini human rights defender Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja has been serving a life sentence since April 2011 for his involvement in anti-government protests last year. Al-Khawaja, who is also a Danish citizen, recently wrote a letter from prison to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to push for his release

ANHRI provides an arena where information can be exchanged and archived, available to Arabic readers worldwide. ANHRI’s legal aid clinic provides support and advice to human rights organisations and the media, and is dedicated to defending journalists, bloggers and intellectuals in court.

Arab Archive Institute (AAI)

The Arab Archive Institute is a research centre which collects and carries out research on human rights in the Arab countries. The AAI’s objective is to enhance media freedom, and human rights in Arab society by carrying out studies on these themes and holding local regional and international conferences about the issues raised.
