Kremlin allows security services to spy on mail

The Kremlin have passed a decree allowing security services, including the FSB, Foreign Intelligence service, police and customs to obtain information from reading people’s mail without a warrant. Lev Ponomaryov, a leading human rights activist said to move showed the return of a “totalitarian regime”. Saberi ‘had classified document’

A lawyer for US-Iranian journalist Roxana Saberi says she was convicted of spying for the US partly because she had obtained a classified document, containting a confidential Iranian report on the US war in Iraq – but had not used it.
