A radio journalist
has been killed in a suicide bomb attack in
Somalia. Abdiaziz Ahmed Aden, a reporter and newscaster for Radio Markabley was caught in the attack on
4 October, in which 100 people were killed, and over 100 injured. Aden was dispatched to the capital Mogadishu from the radio station’s base in the Bardhere district, in southwest Somalia, on 30 September to cover ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab militants. In the attack which killed the journalist, a suicide bomber drove a bomb-loaded truck into government ministry security barrier. Aden was initially reported as missing, but was
later identified by his family.

Afaq.tv cameraman, Salem Alwan Al-Gharabi,
was killed in a suicide bomb attack in southern
Iraq on Tuesday. At least 27 people were killed in the
double car bomb attack outside a government compound in Diwaniya, a city 275 km south of Baghdad. Al-Gharabi had gone to cover the regional council’s weekly meeting when he was killed in the blast.

Two journalists were among 50 people killed by suicide bombers on December 6.

Waqt TV died and a third journalist Mohib Ali was injured in the attack on an administrative building in the town of Ghanalai, on the border with Afghanistan. The journalists were covering a peace jirga in which local government officials and tribal elders were discussing an anti-Taliban strategy.

Three people have been killed and several others injured after a suicide bomber attacked a club for journalists in Pakistan’s northwestern city of Peshawar and a dozen more injured according to police. The incident took place when a bomber blew himself up after police officials at a security gate stopped him from entering the building. The Peshawar Press Club is a well-known landmark in the city and is frequented by many journalists. At least four of the injured are believed to be journalists. Read more
