His wife was also killed in the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Da Silva had received frequent death threats from rainforest loggers. He confessed in a public conference in November that he feared for his life. A 2008 report compiled by Brazilian human rights activists also listed Da Silva as one of those \u201cconsidered at risk\u201d for assassination. But the couple had allegedly <a title=\"Al Jazeera, &quot;Anti-logging Activist Murdered in Amazon&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/english.aljazeera.net\/news\/americas\/2011\/05\/201152420380498450.html\" target=\"_blank\">not asked for any police protection<\/a>.
