In the lead up to her trial she claimed that she was <a title=\"The Independent: Deatined poet &quot;beaten acros the face with electric cable&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/middle-east\/detained-poet-beaten-across-the-face-with-electric-cable-2296137.html\" target=\"_blank\">beaten <\/a>in prison and she has now been convicted of charges which include inciting hatred. One verse of the poem, addressed directly to King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, read: \u201cWe are the people who will kill humiliation and assassinate misery.
