On Wednesday, the Department of Justice asked a federal appeals court to force\u00a0James Risen to testify about his sources in the trial of a CIA officer who was accused of leaking top secret information. In the hearing, federal prosecutors appealed the ruling from a US District <a title=\"RCFP - Judge quashes second subpoena to New York Times reporter in CIA leaker case\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rcfp.org\/news\/mag\/35-3\/judge_quashes_second_subpoena_to_new_york_times_reporter_in__5.html\" target=\"_blank\">court on 29 July<\/a> that Risen did not have to reveal his sources in the trial of ex-CIA officer Jeffrey Stirling.
