Former president Leonid Kuchma was accused of being involved in the murder of Georgy Gongadze by\u00a0a former interior ministry official who\u00a0<a title=\"IFEX : Gongadze murder suspect admits to killing, names former president Kuchma as conspirator\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ifex.org\/ukraine\/2011\/09\/01\/kuchma_implicated\/\" target=\"_blank\">admitted to strangling<\/a>\u00a0the journalist earlier this year. Gongadze\u00a0was found decapitated after being abducted in Kiev in 2000.\u00a0Secret audio recordings apparently incriminating the former president were also heard in court, but Kuchma has continually denied any involvement in the murder.\u00a0Gongadze was founder of the\u00a0Ukrainska Pravda website, and was often critical of\u00a0the Ukrainian leader.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Ukranian court has dropped the case\u00a0against a former president accused of ordering the\u00a0killing of a journalist.
