Editor Mamadou Biaye and reporter Mamadou Ticko Diatta of\u00a0private daily newspaper\u00a0Le Quotidien were given a three month suspended sentence after the publication of an article alleging that\u00a0Bakary Di\u00e9m\u00e9,\u00a0deputy mayor of the district of Goudomp,\u00a0had links to armed separatists of the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance (MFDC).\u00a0Le Quotidien\u00a0told the court their information came from military sources, but Di\u00e9m\u00e9 rejected the allegations.\u00a0Di\u00e9m\u00e9 was awarded\u00a02 million CFA francs (US$3,500).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two Sengalese journalists have been given suspended prison sentences after been convicted of\u00a0criminal libel.
