{"id":40627,"date":"2012-09-28T12:53:10","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T11:53:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.indexoncensorship.org\/?p=40627"},"modified":"2012-10-04T12:42:58","modified_gmt":"2012-10-04T11:42:58","slug":"call-for-participants-data-tools-for-journalism-advocacy-and-activism-workshop-12-14-november-dakar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indexoncensorship.org\/newsite02may\/?p=40627","title":{"rendered":"Call for participants: Data Tools for Journalism, Advocacy and Activism Workshop (12-14 November, Dakar)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a tech-savvy journalist, human rights advocate, activist or blogger from West Africa?<\/p>\n<p>Does your writing aim to bring about social and political change?<br \/>\nAre you interested in learning how data journalism skills and tools could help improve your work?<\/p>\n<p>If you have answered \u2018yes!\u2019 to all three questions, then Index on Censorship, Internet Sans Frontieres and Ecole Sup\u00e9rieure de Journalisme, des M\u00e9tiers de l&#8217;Internet et de la Communication (E-Jicom) invite you to apply to take part in their \u201cData tools for journalism, advocacy and activism\u201d workshop.<\/p>\n<p>This intensive 3-day workshop for 15 participants will be led by Nicolas Kayser-Bril of Journalism++ and will take place at the E-jicom campus in Dakar, Senegal on 12-14 November 2012.<\/p>\n<p>There is no workshop fee for successful applicants. We have limited funds to help with travel and accommodation &#8212; please indicate at the bottom of your statement (not included in the 200-word maximum) whether you will need assistance and what kind &#8212; accommodation \/ travel (indicate city of origin) \/ both.<\/p>\n<p>Please note: applicants must be fluent in French to take part in the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, please an email with the subject line &#8220;DJDAKAR2012-firstname lastname&#8221; with the following information to djdakar2012@gmail.com:<\/p>\n<p>1.
