How do we protect freedom of expression online in the face of demands to respect religious, political and cultural sensititivies? How do we stop new technology turning the web into a snoopers\u2019 paradise for police and governments?<\/p>\n<p>Chaired by renowned journalist and editor\u00a0<strong>TN Ninan,\u00a0<\/strong>our panel will include\u00a0<strong>Ajit Balakrishnan <\/strong>(founder and Chief Executive of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/rediff.com\" target=\"_blank\">rediff.com<\/a>),\u00a0<strong>Sunil Abraham\u00a0<\/strong>(Executive Director of the Centre for Internet and Society),\u00a0<strong>Kirsty Hughes<\/strong> (CEO of Index on Censorship), Lokman Tsui (Policy Advisor to Google, Asia Pacific) and\u00a0<strong>Professor Timothy Garton Ash<\/strong>\u00a0(Director of Free Speech Debate at Oxford University).<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>This is the first in a series of international events organised by Index on Censorship, designed to raise the issue of free expression in key countries around the world.<\/p>\n<p>This event is made possible by the generous sponsorship of SAGE India.
