{"id":93374,"date":"2011-09-26T14:20:31","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T14:20:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.indexoncensorship.org\/?p=6336"},"modified":"2011-09-26T14:20:31","modified_gmt":"2011-09-26T14:20:31","slug":"uc-irvine-11-students-given-guilty-verdict-by-jury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indexoncensorship.org\/newsite02may\/?p=93374","title":{"rendered":"UC Irvine 11 students given &quot;guilty&quot; verdict by jury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On 23 September, a group of students known as the &#8220;Irvine 11&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.latimes.com\/news\/local\/la-me-irvine-eleven-20110924,0,5486627.story\">were handed<\/a> three years probation, as well as 56 hours of community service and fines <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.indexoncensorship.org\/2011\/09\/15\/freedom-of-expression-should-be-focus-of-uc-irvine-11-case\/\">for disrupting<\/a> the 8 February speech of Michael Oren, the Israeli ambassador to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said that the students censored Ambassador Oren, and labelled their behaviour as &#8220;thuggery&#8221;.
