Judges brand Famine Song “racist”

The controversial Famine Song sung by some Rangers fans is racist, Scottish appeal court judges have ruled. The Justiciary Appeal Court upheld a conviction against William Walls over his conduct at a Rangers away match last year. The 20-year-old’s defence counsel had argued the song was within his right to free speech. Read more here

Two jailed for Suu Kyi prayer

A Burmese court has sentenced Chit Pe and Aung Saw Wei, supporters of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, to 18 months in prison. The two were convicted of insulting religion after leading prayers at a pagoda for Suu Kyi and other activists to be freed.  Read more here
