Death of witness halts Ukrainian journalist murder case
A key witness in the murder case of investigative journalist Georgiy Gongadze who was found beheaded in 2000, died yesterday after six years in a coma, having never been questionned by officials. Three former police officers were convicted of carrying out the murders allegedly on the orders of senior government officials. Read more here
Judge says Guantanamo evidence must be made public
A federal judge has rejected a US government request to keep secret unclassified evidence it says justifies the continued imprisonment of more than 100 Guantanamo Bay prisoners. Read more here
Journalist killed and three wounded in Iraq
Al-Baghdadia correspondent, Alaa Abdel Wahab was killed outside Mosul, Iraq after a bomb placed underneath his car detenated also injuring a professor who works for a rival TV channel. Later the same evening a similar attack against an Al-Iraqiya crew took place west of Baghdad, injuring two. Read more here
