Features
We are looking for feature ideas about censorship from all over the world. We particularly like person-centred articles which give us a new insight about how freedom of expression is under threat. We like direct, on-the-ground reporting and investigations. We might also consider first-hand accounts of being censored depending on the subject matter.
Short stories, poems and artwork
We welcome fiction and art which has been censored or has been written by a censored author, or which is about censorship. If you are a translator we particularly value any untranslated fiction/poetry from censorship writers around the world which we could publish exclusively in English.
We can't guarantee to respond to your pitches immediately but we will look at everything which is sent to us and consider for publication. Please also see our contributors' charter. We don't consider anything written by AI. We aim to further excellent writing and prefer a translation than an article in English which has been "improved" by AI.
Send your ideas to the editorial team using the contact form below.

Support Index's work on digital rights
Authoritarians around the world are silencing dissidents online. Your donation could help us amplify the voices of Afghan women who are banned by the Taliban from being heard.
Technology has helped bring down barriers to hearing and sharing different points of view. Kneejerk reactions from politicians threaten to restrict free speech. Help Index to influence policymakers and stop them from brining in draconian laws that do little to fix genuine concerns.
Index on Censorship relies on your donations to ensure dissidents in ruthless regimes can protest peacefully. Your donation, no matter how small, can help us keep these dissident voices heard.

At Index on Censorship, we believe everyone deserves the right to speak freely, challenge power and share ideas without fear and incraesingly this is being done online. Help us defend digital rights around the world.
