Iraq’s Ministry of Culture has revived regulations forbidding the import of some books, prompting critics to accuse it of restoring Saddam Hussein-era censorship. The ministry has begun requiring publishers to submit lists of titles for approval. Officials have said the ban is on books glorifying jihadi violence and martyrdom. Read more here

Ukrainian investigators say they have found skull fragments believed to be those of the journalist, Georgiy Gongadze, who was decapitated in 2000. The find came just days after the arrest of a former Ukrainian general suspected of carrying out the murder. Read more here

Filipino radio journalist Godofredo Linao was shot near the offices of Radyo Natin by two unidentified men. The men fired four shots at Linao as he was about to board his motorcycle, killing him on the spot. The motive for the attack is unclear. Linao also worked as a political spokesman and may have been targeted for his political broadcasts. Linao is the fourth journalist to die in the Philippines in the past two months. Read more here
