‘Scores’ of reporters arrested in Sudan

At least 60 journalists were arrested by Sudanese police while attending a peaceful protest demanding a new freedom of expression law this morning.

The editor of the daily newspaper Ajras Al-Hurriya, Murtada el-Ghali, told AFP “They took us very harshly in one lorry… They are talking about interrogation. They took mobiles and money.” Authorities began releasing the journalists early this afternoon.
