Chávez stepping up media clampdown

Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez is said to be stepping up his campaign of hostility towards broadcasters he considers too critical of his regime. Filipino journalist recieves death threat text

Mario Alviso, manager of Radyo Nitin in the Philippines, has received a text message from an unidentified sender the day after the death of political commentator Godofredo Linao’s murder, stating that the killing was “just a sample” of what could be done, and that “he would be next.” Read more here
