Chinese police have cordened off Tiananmen Square, to prevent people marking the 20th anniversary of the massacre and banned foreign press. Earlier today US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged China to launch an official inquiry. Read more here

China’s biggest news portal, Sina, has shut down artist-turned-activist Ai Weiwei’s blog without explanation after he refused to self-censor his posts ahead of 4 June, the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen protests. Read more here

The online version of one of China’s most radical magazines, Yanhuang Chunqiu (China Through the Ages) has been closed by the censors who patrol the Great Firewall of China, days before the twentieth anniversary of the Tiananmen Square crackdown. Read more here
