Jean Ramses Anleu Fernández, the Guatemalan I.T. worker arrested for expressing critical opinion via his Twitter profile (username Jeanfer) regarding the banking scandal taking place in the country this week, has been released from jail and is now under house arrest. Read more here
April 6 was named a day of ‘anger’ by Egyptian Internet users fighting the state of emergency law that prevents them from expressing themselves freely. The authorities have steadily increased the surveillance of bloggers. According to RSF, In 2008 more than 500 civilians were arrested for content of their online posts.
