Turkish Writers Union: "An illegal society"

A large number of leading Turkish writers, including the chairman of the Writers Union, Aziz Nesin, are on trial in Istanbul and face long prison sentences, if convicted. 56 Turkish intellectuals are also in danger of imprisonment for having signed a petition to the President of the Republic demanding an end to censorship.
